International human trafficking is a major problem for men, who are often subjected to forced labor and bondage schemes. But here’s an example of an attempt to bias media coverage of the human trafficking issue, using inflammatory terms like the “War on Women.”

Contact information is at the end of the message:

NOMINATE A JOURNALIST FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
Applications Now Available!

National, U.S.A. – Soroptimist International Northwestern Region and the Northwest Coalition Against Trafficking unveiled today a new award geared towards journalists who are dedicated and consistent in keeping the “war on women” visible to their audiences throughout the year.

The Jane Velez-Mitchell Journalism Award is named after award-winning journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell, host of “Issues” on HLN. Velez-Mitchell was honored in January with the organization’s prestigious Ruby Award for her ongoing dedication and advocacy for women and girls. “We are hoping journalists throughout the country will be nominated for their great work in keeping the awareness and ‘issues’ on the violence against women a focus point of their reporting as Jane does five nights a week,” said Michelle Bart, Soroptimist Northwestern Region Public Awareness and Human Trafficking Chairperson.
The Jane Velez-Mitchell Award recognizes excellence in coverage of news of local, national, and international significance, with a single award for either a print or broadcast journalist who uses the power of media and his or her position to highlight the ongoing violence against women and girls, whether domestic violence, human trafficking, kidnapping and abductions, hate crimes, or other despicable crimes and violence against women and girls.

The honoree(s) of this prestigious award will be recognized for her/his ability to keep women and girls a focus point in their messages to their audience and the public. Their dedication and support of Soroptimist principles will be acknowledged in an award presentation every year.

The JVM Journalism Award will be awarded on January 15, 2011 in Portland, Oregon during the annual Human Trafficking Conference by Ms. Velez-Mitchell. “I am proud to support such an honorable and urgent cause by encouraging journalists to cover the critical issues affecting women. Fighting the “war on women” must become a priority in our society…this can be accomplished only by making it a priority in our national dialogue,” said Velez-Mitchell.
Applications are now available on www.NWCAT.org.

There is no “war” on women – women don’t even fight in wars. It’s men who fight wars. Women sit at home and simply wait for the victors or the conquerors with open arms.

  2. She was only 14 when her mother sold her as a slave. Yet today, by the grace of God, she ministers to other women in the same situation. Hear the amazing story of DJ who spent 22 years as a sex slave.

This is on the Concerned Women for America website. There is a feedback form on this site so I used it to send:

I have seen with interest your feature: “Angels in the Field” and that this woman’s mother was the one who sold her into sexual slavery. Most often, we only hear about men doing this but it is far from the truth.

UNITED NATIONS — Surprisingly, the perpetrators behind human trafficking around the world are often women, the U.N. reported Thursday.

Women are the majority of traffickers in almost a third of the 155 nations the U.N. surveyed. They accounted for more than 60 percent of the human trafficking convictions in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Another tidbit along this line is that Oprah recently had a show about people who were abused by adult women when they were children. This too happens far more often as many men and women in Shattered Men can attest too as it was their mother who abused them. I have also informed Oprah that although she may get a thousand responses to t hat call, tens of thousands will not trust the media to address this fairly.

Our society has been demonizing men for decades and we have seen laws enacted in which families are being destroyed such as the Violence Against Women Act which protects half of the abuse victims at the expense of the other half. In fact, terrorist now have more rights than a man who has been accused of domestic violence.
I have also seen dozens of Christian websites which address domestic violence do so only from a radical feminist point of view. I have only seen ONE which even included the plan of salvation which is the only Real solution to abuse and that was only after I called it to her attention that it was not there. There is a link to it on every page of the Shattered Men website because there is NO message that is more important than that one.
The VAWA is up for renewal again. My question….what will CWFA do to stop it?

  3. War on women? If anything, there is a real war on men by the gender feminist and they have gained a lot of support in this war from men.

Most of us are aware of the three-state stabbing spree in the United States leaving 13 people wounded in addition to five who were killed. Authorites have tried to make it a racial issue as most of the victims were Black. I do not think it was racial. It appears there were three victims in Israel also and those three plus the 13 here all have one thing in common…..they were all MALE. I posted this in the news article you can find here”

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_serial_stabbings

Perhaps they cannot find a motive because they refuse to recognize the motive. There is one thing that is in common for all of his victims….they were all MALE.

“Acquaintances said Abuelazam’s father died of illness when he was a baby, and that he was raised by his single mother and four sisters.”

I think he was brought up to hate males and it was even worse for him because he is a male but I think he was taught misandry (you may have trouble looking this up but you can find it by searching for it on line) I also believe there is more misandry in our society than m Google has 97,900 hits for misandry while misogyny has 1,010,000 It would seem that far more people, both men and women accept misandry as social justice while they condemn misogyny. The fact that males are often considered the disposable gender also shows misandry in our society. Very few protest when only males are killed but we hear all sorts of screams when women are made uncomfortable. Microsoft Word will correct any misspelling of misogyny while it does not even have misandry listed

    From the Urban Dictionary

Hatred of men. An acceptable form a bigotry in today’s society. Not only are many women misandrist but many men have been influenced to believe that their gender is one of predacious oppressors. Misandry can be seem in many forms of entertainment where men are often portrayed as stupid and malicious. Violence against men is also seen as funny. Many courts are also misandrist, especially family courts, and discriminate against men on a regular basis Despite this many men refuse to recognize that there is a problem at all. This could be because of various factors including feeling like a victim makes a man less masculine, education teaches that women are victims and men are predators, and simply that ignorance is bliss.

    Examples of misandry are…

    Men are parasites.

    All men are potential rapists.

    Men are stupid.

Men are not needed in today’s world.

From the above definition, I believe it is right on for the person that did commit these crimes.

For those who will reject this without thought, remember that your father, your brother, son, uncle or husband could be the next victim of misandry. Of course, than some of you will not care. I have even heard some mothers even state that it would be better for their son to be hurt than their daughter because he is only a male.

I have newsflash for you….MEN have feelings too. We bleed and often do so willingly to protect women and children. Far more men are willing to die for women they do not even know than there are men who will harm them. One example is the Titanic. Hundreds of men died needlessly because they were male and rather than risk swamping life boats with empty seats and risking the life of the women in them, they chose to die.

The Bottom line….is it not time to value ALL our people….even if they happen to be male?

Nickolss Kristoff (sp) was shocked to see that much of sex traffiking was done by… ta da, women. What is not shocking is that many women use their bodies for big bucks and then later – especially if busted for prostitution, blame men. If men didn’t offer money then women wouldn’t fuck for money? So it’s men’s fault.

Let’s see. If people didn’t want drugs then those selling drugs would be out of work? So blame the buyers and not the sellers? Isn’t this mutual?

In Santa Rosa CA a guy is driving down the street not thinking about hookers but maybe feeling sexual, lonely, horny, whatever. Then he sees a woman with a short skirt, low blouse (We know men are visual, horny, “mother nature made us that way to keep the population going …) and the guy thinks, hey, she is an adult, I am an adult, and look at her working that sucker (one woman cop was sucking on a sucker) … might not have ever done this before, might be very horny, a long time has passed, like not eating a day or two and going past McD’s. You KNOW it’s not good for you but … on impulse… wonder what it would feel like if that sucker was my dick he thinks and then he goes for it. Would he have had that thought if she wasn’t there?

So then what. He stops, goes to jail, everyone tut tut’s, while even the cops — the men, realize that this is bullshit.

Meanwhile there are men and women out their beating children and getting away with it while we waste time and money on victimless crimes. (Yes, some are victims but arrest the pimps that make them victims. Don’t arrest men and women who are trading cash for sex, half the wives of local politicians, judges, cops too are trading sex for his labor and income and some men are getting away with selling sex and love to a partner who takes care of them. Seems cops should have something better to do than take advantage of men whose sexual urge is stronger than their fear of being “set up” by women.
