Israel: The Irrationality of Rape Accusations

This just in! A conservative man in Toronto has been convicted of rape after consensual sex with a liberal woman, who assumed he too was liberal because he was wearing Birkenstocks and carrying a backpack with a Greenpeace logo on it.
Even though the sex was fine, when she found out he was a card-carrying member of the Conservative Party and was using his nephew’s backpack as a ploy to arouse her lust (the sandals really were just for comfort), she accused him of rape. The courts found that indeed the man had committed “rape by deception.â€Â
Okay, that isn’t true. But this is: a 30-year old delivery man, Sabbar Kashur, was sent to jail for 18 months for having hooked up under the Jewish name of “Daniel†with a Jerusalem woman in 2008. They met on the street, repaired to a nearby office building, and went at it. The woman had no complaints about the sex until it was revealed the guy wasn’t Jewish. Then she screamed rape.
As if there weren’t enough to keep men in a state of panic, this international legal first not only makes a mockery of the well-established principle that consent, once given, cannot be retroactively withdrawn under the rubric of buyer’s remorse, but has the effect of declaring racism a virtue, and makes a racist the victim in a clearly victimless act.
When it comes to the crime of rape, Israeli intellectuals like the judge who came to this conclusion leave me gobsmacked. But believe it or not, this bizarre case pales beside another Israeli intellectual’s convoluted thinking on the subject of rape, which would have all but the most committed anti-Zionists squirming in embarrassment.
A (prize-winning!) Israeli research paper found that the lack (yes, read that again, the lack) of Israeli Defence Forces rapes of Palestinian women is a bad thing. Hebrew University doctoral candidate Tal Nitzan noted in her 2007 thesis that “the lack of organized military rape is an alternate way of realizing [particular] political goals.â€Â
She says, “In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it can be seen that the lack of military rape merely strengthens the ethnic boundaries and clarifies the inter-ethnic differences – just as organized military rape would have done.†(my emphasis)
Are you following the – um – logic here? The “scholar†began her “research†by posing the question to herself: “Why is it that there are so few IDF rapes when in similar situations around the world, rape is much more common?†Her conclusion is that if you rape women in occupied territories, you’re an oppressor using time-honoured sexual terrorism to demoralize and shame your enemies. And if you refrain from raping women in occupied territories, you’re…well, if you are a male Israeli soldier, you are a racist, shaming and humiliating your enemies by implying they are too repulsive to rape.
To recapitulate: a Jewish woman is the victim of rape even when she isn’t raped, if her sexual partner wasn’t Jewish, and a Jewish soldier is guilty of “rape†even when he refrains from raping non-Jews.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t, damned if your name isn’t kosher. Israel, land of giants in technology, pygmies in sexology.

Stumble It!
So… consensual sex is rape if it’s with a liberal? Or if she just thinks you’re liberal?
This is getting too confusing. Can my hand charge me for rape or am I in the clear here? ‘Cause if not then I think that’s the only sure-fire way to stay in the clear.
