Restraining order registries have become all the rage. Question is, Is a person’s name removed from the registry if the temporary order is not turned into a final order?

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (KABC) — The California counties of Orange, Marin, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara are taking part in a pilot program that will eventually link domestic violence records across the state.
State officials say the new software will provide a searchable database of scanned restraining orders. The state judiciary ordered the creation of the California Courts Protective Order Registry to help judges create protective orders that are consistent across county lines.
The registry will also track elder abuse, harassment, workplace violence and juvenile cases. Court administrators plan to include 20 counties in the system by the end of the year and all 58 California counties by 2013.

Marin can’t even keep their in house court records in order. For example, their family law court records are currently under audit by the State of California. How unfortunate that what could be a good statewide system has to be tarnished with the association to Marin County.
