Is $1 Billion Too Much for Wasteful DV Programs?
Each year the federal government spends over $1 BILLION for domestic violence programs, mostly through grants awarded under the Violence Against Women Act, the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (for DV shelters), the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA).
If that money was actually working to reduce violence without trampling on the civil rights of the falsely accused, we’d consider the money to be well spent. But that’s not the case.
So we encourage Abusegate readers to connect with your local TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party. TEA partiers are a non-partisan, energetic, passionate bunch. On tax day, April 15, TEA parties are expected to be held throughout the country.

FreedomWorks to Host 2010 Tax Day Tea Party in Washington, DC
Activists from the Washington area invited to protest outside the White House on April 15th
FreedomWorks has agreed to host the 2010 Tax Day Tea Party for Washington, DC. On Tax Day, April 15th, hundreds of thousands of Americans will protest big government around the country. They will protest in big cities and small towns, from Los Angeles, California to Burlington, North Carolina. FreedomWorks will be hosting the DC Tax Day Tea Party, at The Washington Monument, in view of the White House.
As we put together the details of the event, check back here for updates if you are planning to attend. Just so you know, we are planning to have an evening event with speakers, music and lots of rowdy protesters.
