What Happens When Male DV Victims Ask for Help?

By Abusegate Bob

A recent survey by Dr. Denise Hines of 302 abused men found these men routinely faced sex discrimination when they sought help from DV hotlines, shelters, and service providers .

The key findings were: 63.9% of men who called hotlines were told they only help women, and 68.7% said the hotlines were not at all helpful. Of those that contacted a local DV shelter program, 95.3% said the program gave the impression that they were biased against men, 78.3% said they don’t help male victims, and 63.9% suggested the male caller was the batterer.

Women working in shelters have been known to claim “there is no excuse” for any violence, unless of course it’s your mother “Having personal problems” so don’t call the police” …OR “a woman friend;relative;coworker who attacks is, you know, having personal problems from stress, past abuse, living in the patriarchy, so don’t call police” … these are cases where such women have hit or kicked. Meanwhile, a male pushing a female leads to preaching about patriarchial oppression of women and how you MUST get the police, a restraining order, and get the guy into a program… This is so common that it can be considered standard procedure along with counting mulitiple calls from the same “whack” cases as individual acts and cases. Locally one woman (a therapist told me and asked me to not repeat her name) has put four guys into “treatment” … turns out that the poor dear just seems to attract abusive men, men must smell her vulnerablity… the idea that this woman might be instigating the violence, hitting first, pushing buttons to feel a sense of power herself, … or that she just hates men and lies, might be considered but not acted upon.

These DV “Shelters” and “Hotlines” are likely nothing more than nests of militant men haters (usually loud agenda-driven “feminists” who espouse “all men are rapists”, “all men are batterers” etc)–well supported by Government and Corporate Sponsorship alike…. Isn’t it nice to see your hard earned tax dollars put to good use?

What if these DV groups REFUSED to help women??? There would be a FIRESTORM OF CONDEMNATION, CONGRESSIONAL HEARINGS ETC Something needs to be done about this BLATANT SEXISM AND DISCRIMINATION.

Men, if you have a DV problem FORGET going to these “support” groups or even the Police–ONLY MEN CAN BE GUILTY OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE—JUST LIKE ONLY MEN CAN BE DEAD BEATS when it comes to CHILD SUPPORT (“DEADBEAT DADS”). What’s next? Some male “privilege” crap?
